As a children's writer, I have found that everyone is looking for a message or a learning piece from books. I have to be honest, that's not where my mind is when I write my stories. Although, when I am done with a story, the message is clear.
I live with my family in a big city, Chicago. It's been anything but magical since March of 2020. The stress of the pandemic, living in a city of unrest, protecting my children from hearing how awful the world really can be, eLearning, starting a new company -- Bobos Babes, Ltd., and keeping my wellness company alive has been unbearable at times. I write to free my mind of the chaos. I literally need to escape to a magical land of Harmony where everyone gets along and is happy. In trying to fulfill my need for happiness and peace, my books message was clear. I need children and parents to read my books and feel happy. We need magic and love and laughter. These intangibles are necessary for humans to survive.
When I read to my children, most times, I just want a fun read. I want and need to feel happiness, and I want them to feel that as well. Can’t that just be the message? Happiness and kindness always wins!
I crave happiness for my children and for yours. I’m that mom at the park who is keeping an eye on your kid when you take a phone call. It takes a village to raise children. This is a world of duo working parents who can't help but have to take a work call from time and again when they are spending time with their kids. This allows us to be with our family and still make money to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. We are a world of stressed-out parents trying to balance it all.
At the end of your exhausted day, when your child hops on your lap for a story, I hope your child picks a Bobos Babes Adventure, and you have a moment to escape from the world and find happiness . . . together.
